As part of their new destination marketing focus, Maine Office of Tourism is working with international destination marketing organization, Destinations International, to perform a Destination Assessment in each of the tourism regions of Maine. Our tourism region, Maine’s MidCoast & Islands, gets to participate on October 18 in Rockland. Scroll for more details about the Workshop.

    THE WORKSHOP, THE OUTCOMES
In our region, the Maine Office of Tourism and Destinations International will conduct a 3-hour workshop for tourism industry, community, and market leaders to:  1) gain an understanding of the project, 2) have everyone complete a survey so their voices are heard and 3) discuss key factors that could help the region become an even stronger destination.

Each tourism region will receive a report specific to that region highlighting the region’s strengths and areas where improvements can be focused. Statewide, 1000 surveys are required. In addition to each regional report, Maine Office of Tourism will use the statewide report compiling outcomes of all eight tourism regions in future direction.

The tool looks at destination performance, brand, facilities, services, infrastructure, access, etc. It also looks at the support of industries, businesses, workforce, funders, Board members, etc. The tool will assess Maine’s tourism regions as they exist today, providing information and recommendations to help regions develop as stronger destinations going forward.

We are excited about this opportunity to improve our destination marketing work, together, so we hope to see you there!
